“Black and white are the colors of photography. To me they symbolize the alternatives of hope and despair to which mankind is forever subjected” – Robert Frank
Dating back to the Titanic era, one of the most historical moments in time, captured in black and white. John F. Kennedy having a tea party with his daughter, Mona Lisa being returned to its home in Paris, World War 2, World War 1 … and so many more.
When I come across a black and white photo, I gather different emotions. It sets a tone, ranging from pure bliss to utter despair. Which is why I think most people are drawn to this type of photography.
